Ooey Gooey Rocky Road

Rocky road — chocolate, marshmallows, and nuts — was invented in 1929 by Dreyer’s ice cream founders to give Americans something sweet to smile about during the Depression. The name was meant to reflect the rocky road ahead. Sarah Hykes’ bar version brings that same beloved combination into a pan dessert: melted chocolate folded with marshmallows and nuts, spread in a pan, and set until firm.
